So today my finches have returned. Maybe they heard me talking about them... what the heck???

And the big-bird gang is not in full effect today.

I hope this reflects a trend.

Hi all,

Sorry to be so full of questions today, but I have another one.   All
Fall and Winter my tube and platform feeders have been mobbed by
Finches...  House, Goldfinch, Cardinals.    And my suet feeders have
always attracted Wrens and Downy and Red-Bellied Woodpeckers.

But in the past two weeks my clientele has turned over dramatically and
I now serve mainly Grackles, Starlings, and Cowbirds.   And Mourning
Doves feeding on the spilled seed.

There is still the occasional intrepid Cardinal, but nary a Finch to be
seen.   Have they been run off by the larger Blackbirds?   I also see
the occasional Downy Woodpecker at the suet feeders... they seem
relatively bold.
