[va-richmond-general] WOOD DUCK in Powhatan County 1/19/09

Unlike many of the hardy souls who ventured out this weekend, I had stayed 
indoors and watched my feeder.? This afternoon I did get out and checked out my 
neighborhood.? Our small shallow 25 acre lake was mostly frozen but I checked 
out the adjacent larger and deeper lake which was clear.? I was surprised to 
first hear "oo-eek" and then see a male WOOD DUCK fly in to join the group of 
Mallards.? That seems a little early in this part of the Piedmont.
