[va-richmond-general] The Wetlands in the am, 4/30; Riverside Dr. in the pm

Sorry for the late post.  I was laid low with a migraine and apparently
clearwire is defeated by tree leaves.  A brief visit in the morning yielded
a male chestnut-sided warbler visible and singing, a singing hooded warbler,
and a silent male redstart all in a small area between the boardwalk and the
creek.    There were 3 vireo eggs in the WEVI nest, but recent traffic had
spooked her.  There was a very bad dog off the leash.  There was only one
egg on a recent trip and she always seems to return after being
spooked-resilient little bird.   When I went to look at the back-filling in
the creek below the kingfisher burrows the water was a couple of feet below
the lowest one.  Further on the trails were full of water in places.  There
was a common snipe flying upriver beyond the water's edge.  On the trail
back to the parking area I heard what sounded like a red-eyed vireo singing,
but it was a Philadelphia vireo on a branch above the trail.  It's nice when
they teach me things like that!  On Riverside about 5:45pm it was
interesting to see the geese and herons cope with the water levels.  The
herons were up in the grass.  The Z Dam was not quite submerged, but I felt
too lousy to check how that correlates with the water level at the
kingfisher burrows.  I assume no one was birding the Great Dismal Swamp,
etc. the other day when the tornados hit?
