[va-richmond-general] Re: Successful Bryan Park Clean UP

Sue,

That married couple was us. I collected 4 bags of trash plus a tire with rim.
The dog treats were not as good as the cookies though. One place I found that
was really trashy was way back off the trail that leads to the upper part of
the lake source. Linda & I got 4 bags off that area. I found a syringe there. I
also worked a long time on the area behind the bridge (closer to the picnic
area).

Eleven people showed up to pick up trash from around the lakes this sunny
afternoon. Alice and Paul Boller from Beaverdam were the leaders. Alice made
oatmeal raisin cookies (human treat) and brought dog treats for those folks who
participated. Phebe Van Valen, Carolyn and Daniel Pitts, Eileen Tangley, and
Harriet Turner participated. The upper lake looked fantastic!

Alice could not tell me the names of the married couple and the two women who
also came. (If you could let me know off the list serve, I would appreciate
it.) She was impressed with the gentleman who collected 4 large bags of trash.
Paul thought that next time we should give a prize to the person who finds the
most disgusting piece of trash.

Some interesting items were found- a trellis-like item, an old-fashioned light,
and an actual trash can which we filled up with more trash. I covered the lower
lake with Harriet and Eileen. We filled three bags with stuff from the duck
island and the geese were patient with us. Thank you all for coming out! Sue
