We also have a srange non-descript, grey, scruffy, loner little bird. It sits
on the crumbled suet feeder all alone, even takes naps there. It eats very
slowly, doesn't have enough sense to move when the red belly or jay come. It's
so scruffy that it looks like a ball of fluff with big holes in the feather
fluff. The heartbreaking thing a few days ago was to see it run up to 2 other
birds (a junko and a house finch) on the feeder and beg to be fed, just like a
baby fluttering its wings and with its beek open. The other 2 birds ignored it
and flew off. Like the Warfield's bird, the closest identification we can give
is female house finch. There are very subdued wing bars. We also wondered if
it might be sick.
