I wonder if this is a risk common to song sparrows!? Last summer, my
husband was trimming the top of a big privet, and noticed a song sparrow's nest
after it was already exposed! I took nandina stalks and tied them to the
branches of the privet, creating cover all around and over the nest. The
babies
survived!
