[va-richmond-general] Smith Island trip

We went out to Smith Island yesterday. This is a very interesting trip, but
you don't get a lot of time on the island. We arrived about 11.30 and the
boat left the island at 12:50. On that schedule, I wished we had brought a
picnic lunch as we spent a lot of time in the restaurant (although the crab
cakes are excellent and we did want to support the local economy). We did get
some free entertainment, first we had to wait to land because someone had tied
up a boat at the place that the cruise boat docks, and it took an earful
from our captain to get it moved. While we were waiting for lunch at the
Bayside Inn, we watched the great folks from Somerset County Department of
Roads
load four dump trucks of hurricane debris and a front end loader on to a
barge.
Oh yes, we did see some birds:

Brown Pelican
Double-crested Cormorant
Great Blue Heron
Great Egret
Little Blue Heron

Tricolored Heron
Yellow-crowned Night Heron
Glossy Ibis
Canada Goose
Mallard
