[va-richmond-general] Re: Should I Put up a Bluebird Box?

I have 5 or 6 boxes up at any one time. The wrens have always preferred boxes right next to the house. Because wrens tend to build several nests before settling on one to lay in, I put 2 or 3 closer together in the area which past nesting attempts indicate that they prefer. They really liked the cheap homemade boxes made out of scrap lumber. The bluebirds this year nested in a box in a distant corner away from the others and raised 2 broods of 6.
