[va-richmond-general] Rockwood Park roll call

It was a lovely, clear day...lots of feathered folk out and about:
Blackbird, Redwinged (f, m)
Blackbird, Rusty

Cardinal, Northern (f, m)
Dove, Mourning

Robin, American
Thrush, Hermit

Cormorant, Double-crested
Heron, Great Blue
Kingfisher, Belted (m)

Goose, Canada
Duck, Mallard (f, m)
Merganser, Hooded (f, m)

Crow, American
Jay, Blue

Hawk, Cooper's
Owl, Barred* (pair doing the "monkey call" hoot)

Chickadee, Carolina
Kinglet, Ruby-crowned
Titmouse, Tufted

Sparrow, Chipping
Sparrow, Song
Sparrow, White-throated (tan stripe)

Wren, Carolina
Wren, Winter

Flicker, Northern
Nuthatch, White-breasted
Sapsucker, Yellow-bellied (j)
Woodpecker, Hairy (f)
Woodpecker, Pileated (f)

Key:
   f = female
   j = juvenile
   m = male
   * = auditory ID only

Also seen amongst the Mallard flock was an unusual and interesting drake. Body
was solid, rich chocolate; breast creamy white; tail tip black; head slightly
darker shade of Mallard drake, with less blue irridescence and more forest
green coloration; no gray or rust coloration at all visible; bill a medium
olive greenish yellow. Anyone have an idea what kind of duck this was? I am
wondering if it's a hybrid between a Mallard and another species...speculations?
