Each evening about 10 or 15 minutes after sunset several thousand
European Starlings gather downtown and perform a spectacular flight show
before going to roost. This week the birds have been above the M.C.V.
buildings and East Broad Street (900 to 1100 blocks). I see them every
year in November and December between sunset and dark somewhere in the
vicinity of V.C.U. or Capitol Square.
Yesterday evening a Perigrine Falcon was cruising along near the swarm,
probably looking to pick off some dinner.
