Greetings VA Birders,
I had a probable GLAUCOUS GULL today at about 3:OO p.m. in the City of
Richmond. I was looking south from Brown's Island. The bird was about
mid-way across the James River, and was somewhat distant. I didn't have my
scope and couldn't rule out a hybrid. However it was clearly a large "white
winged gull" and probably a 2nd winter.
Also seen was an adult LESSER BLACK BACKED GULL.
Lots more gulls today than on last Sunday a.m. . Mainly RING-BILLED (c.800),
HERRING (c.150), and GREAT BLACK BACKED (c.75).
Arun Bose,
Richmond VA.
