5 stalwart souls braved the cold morning temperatures and breezy James
River crossing by canoe and kayak this morning to visit Presquile NWR.
The effort was worth the effort and Presquile although slightly neglected
is in fine shape. A little trail maintenance will be needed along the
river, but the trail up to the residence and out to the Audubon platform
are in OK shape.

It was great to meet Cyrus Brame, the new Outdoor Recreation Planner for
the Eastern Virginia Rivers NWR Complex. (The complex is James River,
Presquile, Plum Tree Island and Rappahannock NWRs). Getting things to
happen for Presquile is one of his duties, and we promised him the
continued support of RAS. This morning's trip was his first to Presquile
- and he was very impressed with the observation platform. We'll need to
have him come speak at one of our meeting when he gets his bearings in
his new role.

PS: Our 2003 RAS Birdathon team, The Good, the Bad & the Ugly Ducklings,
raised over $2222.00 for Presquile NWR.
