[va-richmond-general] Powhite Park birds

Nice and clear, though windy. A Redtailed Hawk popped out from the treeline
shortly after I arrived to greet me, and there was lots of activity later when
she was sitting on a dead tree snag and got (at least) 8 wrens into a buzzing
twitter and so worked up, they flew up after her (I have NEVER seen so many
wrens in one tree in my life).
There were two male Downy Woodpeckers playing peek-a-boo on a tall stump and
they chased each other all around it, too, when they made the mutual discovery
of each other's presence. Most entertaining!

Ducks were heard quacking (probably Mallard), though I didn't see where they
were. Curiously, I've not seen any Butterbutts there now for the past two
visits; I remember them being rather prolific last year at this time. Did see,
however, a small dragonfly pounce on an insect and then bask in the sun on a
large boulder.

  Here's the list o' birds:

  Tufted Titmouse
Carolina Chickadee (what would a list be without one?)
  Ruby-crowned Kinglet
  Northern Cardinal
  Redtailed Hawk
Eastern Bluebird (small flocks all over the park)
  Northern Flicker (pair)
  White-breasted Nuthatch
  Carolina Wren (lots)
  Downy, Hairy (f), Red-bellied Woodpecker
  Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
  Black, Turkey Vultures
  Canada Goose
  Red-winged Blackbird
  White-throated Sparrow
  Brown Creeper

  Cheers, all!
