[va-richmond-general] Pocahontas today

It was such a beautiful afternoon that we decided to take a walk in
Pocahontas. We started out with the intention of going in on the north side
(from
Courthouse Road). While we were sitting at the stop light at Rt. 10 and
Courthouse Road, we saw an adult Bald Eagle soaring over the intersection.
The northern section of the park was overrun with hunters and tree removal
crews, so we headed back to Beach Road and went in on the forest road opposite
the horse trailer parking area and hiked to Beaver Lake. The downed trees have
all been cleared on that road. Not much about, but at the Beaver Lake we saw
7 buffleheads and about 70 Ring-necked Ducks.

Species list:
Ring-necked Duck
Bufflehead
Killdeer
Mourning Dove
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
Carolina Chickadee
White-breasted Nuthatch
Carolina Wren
Dark-eyed Junco

I think the very warm weather may have been responsible for the poor showing.
It was the same at home for my FeederWatch.
