[va-richmond-general] Re: Pocahontas State Park 3/20/06

Wendy,

I'm really looking forward to the walk on Saturday. I haven't been to
Pocahontas birding before. According to my map the main entrance is off 655.
I don't see any mention of the CCC Museum (Old Nature Center) on the map. It
appears that I would turn off 655 onto 780. Is the Amphitheater near where we
are to meet? I will be coming from Mechanicsville - I-295 to Rt 10. Any
directions you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

I checked out the Beaver Lake Trail as a preview for Saturday's Richmond
Audubon Society field trip. No spring migrants yet, but there was a good
showing of sparrows (CHIPPING, FOX, SONG, SWAMP, WHITE-THROATED). Other
highlights included a second year BALD EAGLE, and a PINE WARBLER gathering moss
along the stream bank near the dam. The wintering ducks have pretty much left
(NO CANADA GEESE!)
