I checked out the area below the Swift Creek Lake dam this morning; historically this has been an area to find Louisiana Waterthrush, but there were none today. Perhaps they haven't arrived yet - has anyone seen/heard them this year at Rockwood Park in Chesterfield? I know there was a very early report of one in (I believe) Powhatan. Species list: Osprey Mourning Dove Belted Kingfisher Red-bellied Woodpecker Northern Flicker Pileated Woodpecker Eastern Phoebe American Crow Carolina Chickadee Tufted Titmouse White-breasted Nuthatch Brown Creeper Golden-crowned Kinglet American Robin Pine Warbler Eastern Towhee Dark-eyed Junco Northern Cardinal Brown-headed Cowbird American Goldfinch The two Pine Warblers seemed to be an obvious pair, the female was still in first year plumage.
