While birding in Pocahontas State Park this morning, I came across an owl
pellet. It was on the railing of the footbridge over Swift Creek, by the boat
ramp. The pellet was about two inches long and about 3/4" in diameter, with
lots of little bones and hair.
I hiked the Forest Exploration trail and found:
Canada Goose
Wood Duck
Mallard
Mourning Dove
Belted Kingfisher
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
Pileated Woodpecker
Blue Jay
American Crow
Carolina Chickadee
Tufted Titmouse
White-breasted Nuthatch
Carolina Wren
Eastern Bluebird
Hermit Thrush
American Robin
Song Sparrow
White-throated Sparrow
