Last Wednesday we had a spunky female Orchard Oriole at the platform feeder.
She refused to be intimidated by the Blue Jays who tried to crowd her off the
feeder and stayed until she had her fill.

Powhatan VA
RESTORING BELMEAD ON THE JAMES a Benefit Concert, Feb 11, 2012, 3PM
BACKYARD BIRD COUNT, Feb 17, 18, 19 or 20
Belmead is situated on the James River in Powhatan, Virginia with
over 2,600 acres of land. A great place to look for birds and take
photos. The St Francis/St. Emma site, built in the 1890's, had two
high schools, one for girls and one for boys. These two educational
institutions influenced the lives of many African American woman and
men.
They are trying to save their buildings and are having a concert to
gather money to replace the roof on one. Please help as you can.
