[va-richmond-general] Northern Neck today

Bev Leeuwenberg, wendy Ealding, and I visited: George Washington Birthplace
NM, Westmoreland SP, Currioman Bay, Leedsville, and the Rte. 3 Ponds. On the
whole birding was quiet, eg., only 1 R-T Hawk, 1 Kestrel, 1 Sharpie, and no
Harriers. But, we also saw 8 different Bald Eagles.

Noteworthy was:
1.Gw Birthplace - abbout 100 Tundra Swans, Common Mergs, Surf Scoters, and
Greater Scaup. There were otherwise not many ducks save Ruddies & Gadwall.
2.Westmoreland - Surf and Black Scoters, 3 male L-T Ducks, and a Common Loon.
Then, on the road out, 4 young Turkeys crossed in front of us.
3.Currioman Bay was virtually empy; ditto for Leedstown.
4.Rt.3 Ponds - light was in our eyes which made viewing very difficult, but
we were delighted to find 25-30 Canvasbacks, mostly males.
