[va-richmond-general] Mouse chased a Cat

Today I saw a mouse chase a cat away at my feeder. A catbird was on the
ground feeding on some seeds on the ground. A titmouse in a nearby holly
bush suddenly dive-bombed right smack on top of the catbird and the catbird
jumped aside about a foot. Apparently sometimes a smaller bird can chase a
larger bird and dominate over it. A titmouse chased a catbird away.

I could not go to the picnic because I went to a global warming conference
in Wilmington, NC. It was one of the best conferences I have been to. The
people there brought out facts to support their statement, including some
numbers.

My yard has been quite successful this year. There were three successful
nests, of titmice, cowbirds, and starlings. Two of these are junk birds, but
still they were successful nests. The cowbird next was particularly
interesting. They made their nest on a decorative lantern I had placed out
on the front porch the past year that I had won in a raffle at a
Toastmasters conference. I saw the last bird leave the nest Sunday. Its head
poked out of the nest. Then it rather unsteadily flew out of the nest and
into a nearby tree. After that, I saw no birds, and dumped the nest and
cleaned it.
