A couple of weeks ago a mourning dove decided to nest in a hanging
basket right by the door we use the most. She laid her eggs and
they both dutifully incubated them. They tolerated everything that
went on including the blower and me accidentally hitting the basket
while working on the porch. Sunday, the first hatchling appeared and
either yesterday or today the 2nd one did. We can watch her feed
them and them preen from inside our kitchen. Whoever picked the spot
did a great job because it’s been sheltered from the couple of downp
ours we’ve had. It’s been pretty interesting to watch. Oh, and
Linda even watered the plant one day with the dove on her nest, with
no problem.
