A couple of weeks ago a mourning dove decided to nest in a hanging basket
right by the door we use the most. She laid her eggs and they both
dutifully incubated them. They tolerated everything that went on including
the blower and me accidentally hitting the basket while working on the
porch. Sunday, the first hatchling appeared and either yesterday or today
the 2nd one did. We can watch her feed them and them preen from inside our
kitchen. Whoever picked the spot did a great job because it's been sheltered
from the couple of downpours we've had. It's been pretty interesting to
watch. Oh, and Linda even watered the plant one day with the dove on her
nest, with no problem.
