[va-richmond-general] Montana Hummingbird Banders & Rufous from Midlothian, VA

Hey everybody,

Below is a followup note on the banding station in Montana where the
Siegfried's Rufous was recaptured. This was such a great find that the
Montana RBA made note of the hummer from Virginia on their August 13
report.

Larry..... sorry been busy. This is our 2nd year here banding. Last year
we banded over 600 hummers, most Calliope,Rufous, then about 50
Broad-tailed.....also one male Anna's in Nov. in Missoula about 5 hours
drive west.
We are on the east slope of the Rockies. We have banded over 1700 hummers
so far this year and should end around Labor Day. Around 1100 Calliopes,
550 Rufous,50 Broad-tailed and 4 Black-chinned.
Out of the 600 banded last year,, 102 returned, most to the very same
yard where banded...all our bands .
This Rufous that Mary banded was a great find. We hope this yard
continues to be a migration stop...if thats what it is.
I hope this bird shows up over in your area again this fall !!!
