Thank you, Paul. The first bird was, according to my husband, who heard it and
whistled it for me, the black-capped chickadee. Perfectly clear when we played
the cd. This is interesting because in previous years I have had chickadees at
my feeder here and have struggled with which ones they were (wanting to make
them black-capped), but I have been told that there are only Carolina's here.
Oddly, this year, my feeder has no chickadees, but all the other usual
suspects, so I can't do a visual again.
Could they be expanding? I know they are an the western/northern side of the
valley.
The second bird is not a cuckoo or an oven bird. It is a hollow monotone
repeated at even intervals about 7 to 9 times. I have heard it more than once,
but not often.
