[va-richmond-general] Merchant's Mill Pond Field Trip: 24 June

Don't forget to mark your calendars and stock up an Alligator Repellent for our annual trip to Merchant's Mill Pond in Gatesville, NC. Just asking that if you are interested in the trip to please call me and sign up.

When: Sunday June 24-meet at 7:30 am at McDonalds on Route 10/295 in Chester just beyond the River's Bend subdivision. The park is 98 miles from Chester.

What: BYOBoat-Canoe or Kayak and PFD. Also bring snacks, water, binocs, camera, dry bag, sunscreen. Old Town canoes available for rent at the park-although we cannot reserve them in advance-have never seen them run out of canoes. Rental rates are cheap and there is no park entrance fees in NC.

Why: Incredible cypress swamp dripping in Spanish Moss. Birds often at eye level. Anhinga and alligator sightings in the past. Bugs have never been a problem.

Who: Any interested, enthusiastic paddlers.

We paddle as long as the group wants. Wear shoes that are mud friendly for the lunch time pull-over.
Hope to see you-call me to sign up. 804.530.3660
