[va-richmond-general] MAPS Banding Dutch Gap 12 July 2008

Hazy, hot and humid today for 6 of us who opened the nets at Dutch Gap at 5:30 this morning. Bird movement was a little slow today but there was a lot of bird song in the trees and many critters all around to keep us busy. I haven't counted the total number of birds netted but feel certain Prothonotary warbler was the number one bird today-adult male, female and young.  The biggest surprise was a Louisiana Waterthrush. A few deer went into a couple of our nets and during some slow times we had great looks at a Black snake and a Caterpillar we are still trying to ID. Zebra Swallow tails were everywhere.
