[va-richmond-general] James River State Park

Lou and I were at the James River State Park on Saturday
January 20th, a brisk, sunny and beautiful day. Unlike our beloved James River
City Park, this State Park is located in a pastoral setting with a decent
population of raptors, at least in winter, and of course the James River runs
through both of them.

We saw American Kestrel, Sharp-shinned Hawk, many Red-tailed
Hawks, Turkey Vultures and surprisingly, a couple of not so common, Common
Ravens soaring with the raptors. The wedge-shaped tail is diagnostic.A photo of
one of these Ravens, is attached.

The park is about 85 miles west of Richmond near the
intersection of state Routes 60 and 605. For more information cut and paste
