Tonight I watched a female hummingbird feed at every blossom on the branch of
my mimosa. He worked methodically from the end of the branch in towards the
trunk.

I came home today to find that a male Ruby-throat has discovered the feeder!
He is now perching just above the feeder on a overhanging treebranch, his
apparent guardpost. Problem is, he is trying to chase off the two females who
have been (more or less) cooperatively sharing the feeder. They, however, are
not taking this lightly; they chase him plenty too, and I half expect them to
gang up on him any minute now.
To add to his troubles, there is a finch feeder I have hanging nearby, and
the hummies and finches take turns chasing one another off now and then near
the "look out perch." It's rather amusing, actually.
Am enjoying the Hummies this year, obviously :)
