Birders: Jen Folts, Bev Leeuwenberg, Neale and Webb Smith, Sarah Gill, and myself The group in toto saw or heard 101 species. highlights included: 1. Golden-winged Warbler: one at the usual spot on Rt. 631, 2 foraging together on the left side of 640 right before O'Bryan's. A 4th was singing at BML. 2. Mourning Warbler: Paddy's Knob 3.Least Flycatcher: Paddy's Knob, 1 at the Potomac Creek Bridge on 220, and several at Bear Mountain Lodge ( BML ) at the end of 601. 4. Black-billed Cuckoo: at least 3, one of which was seen at BML 5. Yellow-billed Cuckoos: at least 10 seen or heard. 6. Horned Larks ( numerous ) and Vesper Sparrows on Rt. 601 7. Barred Owl - heard from the wilson House on 84 8. Broadwing Hawks - several places, but 4 together at Hidden Valley in Bath Co. 9.Willow flycatcher - Hidden Valley - singing repeatedly from the top of a low tree right by the bridge. 10. Warblers: 17 species in all 11. Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - at BML 12. Bobolinks and Red-headed Woodpeckers at the Hightown store ( Rts. 640 & 250 ) . Bobs in several places in the blue-grass Valley 13. Purple Finches - at the feeders at BML. 14. Cliff Swallow - Rt. 220 in Bath County 15. RED CROSSBILLS - male and female at BML feeders on Sat. & Sun. - prolonged looks at leisurely feeders. 16. Baltimore and Orchard Orioles and Warbling Vireo at Potomac Creek Bridge.
