[va-richmond-general] Henricus trip, November 16, 2002

Ten people were present on an overcast day. A total of 36 species were sighted
or heard. A light rain fell in the early a.m. and started again as the walk
ended. Feeding G B Herons were scoped at the bluff, along with Herring and
Ring-billed Gulls. A Great Egret flew over the marsh; there were numerous N.
Flickers and Pileated Woodpeckers. Others spotted were Wood Ducks, Mallards,
Gadwall, N. Shoveler, C. Geese, Am. Kestral, E. Phoebe, C. Chickadee, T.
Titmouse, Downy & RB Woodpeckers, Am. Goldfinch, E. Bluebirds, a great scope
look at a RS Hawk, Song, Swamp, White-throated, and Chipping (heard) Sparrows.
N. Cardinals, Black Vultures, and juncos were also seen. One of the kinglets
was reported as well. Not bad for a rather dreary Saturday, but actually the
weather was not that bad - if you didn't mind a little rain - and the birding
was good.
