[va-richmond-general] Henricus, Saturday 5/1

New birds (for me, anyway) at Henricus this past Saturday were Acadian
Flycatcher, an immature Orchard Oriole (Orchard Orioles were everywhere),
possible Scarlet Tanager (only heard), Black-throated Blue Warbler, and a
WARBLING VIREO along the boardwalk. Also had a couple of not-so SOLITARY
SANDPIPERS (I say not-so Solitary because there were two of them together).
51-52 species total in about 5 1/2 hours.
Other warblers: Yellow-throated (everywhere), possible Yellow (heard),
Prothonotary, Northern Parula, Black and White, American Redstart, Common
Yellowthroat, and a couple of Yellow-rumped. I noted the following species in
the same places this week as last: Prothonotary, Parula, and Pileated
Woodpecker.

BUTTERFLIES: Silver-spotted Skipper, Pearl Crescent, Spring Azure, and three
Swallowtail species (Tiger, Zebra, and probably Black). Also had a very pretty
little moth. It was a bright orange all over, very small, and has some black
spots along the edges of the wings. Saw it along the meadow near the fence as
you walk along the Dutch Gap area. Saw a similar one, but yellow instead of
orange, at Bryan Park today. Anyone know any little moth species?

Saw three Green Tree Frogs, as well, trying very hard to look like leaves. Cute
little buggers.
One final question: I heard this sound several times. I thought it might have
been a Yellow-billed Cuckoo call (or the tail-end of it, anyway), but it
sounded more lie "COO, COO, COO" rather than "COW, COW, COW" over and over. It
never changed and the "coos" were evenly spaced. There weren't like the coos of
a dove. Ideas?
