Last weekend I had a very large hawk dive/glide across my back yard at eye level. It was aiming for something in the next year, but I did not see what it was after. What I did see was a white patch on it rump. Without the white, I would have said it was a Coopers, but it was big and the white patch makes me thing Harrier. But it was not hunting like any harrier I have ever seen - usually wafting along over grass lands looking for rodents in the grasses. It clearly was diving at a shallow angle across the yard to nail something near the ground in the next year. It seemed bigger than the Coopers also. Has anyone else ever seen a Harrier hunting in suburbia? Bob Siegfried
