Just a heads up for those of you who may not already know about this:
The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries has a free high quality, full color
guide to Virginia snakes. All you have to do is send them an email with your
name and address (see link below). It is really an excellent guide, with
terrific photos. The somewhat antagonistic relationship between birds and
snakes (as both predator and prey, depending on the bird and the snake in
question) makes this both a useful guide and a worthwhile read.
