The house on Route 5 across from Turkey Island Road and visible from the corner
of RT 5 and Turkey Island Road when on Turkey Island Road has a big tree stump
in the yard that contains an active Red Headed Woodpecker nest. Iren, Jane and
I saw a bunch at Malvern Hill battlefield last year.

I lead the bird spotting portion of the trip to Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden
this morning. The Green Heron pair that nests on the property is back. Richmond
Audubon group and Jerry U's trip group both had great sightings of the bird.
The pair had two birds hatch and migrate away last year.

Had about a 60 second look at a Red-headed Woodpecker on my suet this morning
before he was chased off by the Grackles. Also heard a Great Horned Owl about 5
am calling from the backyard.
One bluebird egg in the box this morning.

Spring is cool.
