[va-richmond-general] Gone to the Birds Festival update

Carl Zeiss, one of the world leaders in sports optics, will loan out a limited number of binoculars to people to see the birds! Bird Watchers, Inc. plans to release four Purple Martins into the flock who have been rehabilitated by wildlife rehabbers. Mike Wilson, Center for Conservation Biology, will present a talk on the Bald Eagle conservation success story and three imperiled species.
 
A number of restaurants-Hillbilly Reds, River City Diner, Lulu’s, Sheeba Ethiopian, Halligan’s Bar, Havana, and White House Catering- have all submitted gift certificates for raffle prizes! Other raffle prizes include a Purple Martin House with a pole mount, 4 Troyer Gourds, and the American Barn PM House. These were donated by leading Purple Martin manufacturers such as Erva Tool, Andy Troyer, and S & K Manufacturing. T-Shirts with the Festival logo will be on sale for $15(cash only).

From the North, East and West: Take I-95 south to Exit 74B, the East Franklin Exit. (The exit before this one is the Broad Street Exit 74C.) Go straight through the first traffic light and at the second traffic light turn left onto Main Street. Go past the train station several blocks and turn left onto 18th Street. Go north and turn left onto Grace Street. Free parking is available on the right. Other parking on the left will cost about $5.

 

From the South: Take I-95 north to Exit 74C, the Broad Street Exit (Rte. 250, Rt. 33). Stay in the right hand lane when the ramp divides and follow Rte. 33. This lane will put you on 17th Street heading south. Go through the traffic light and at the next stop sign, turn right. Free parking is on your right.
