Coming back from the Eastern Shore yesterday, I had the car radio tuned to the
Norfolk PBS station. There was a report that the eagle had laid an egg, and
that shortly afterwards the GHO visited the nest. There was a scuffle between
the female eagle and the GHO on the rim of the nest, and the eagle drove the
GHO off.

Recently, Sue Ridd pointed out a webcam with night vision capabilities at
Norfolk Botanical Gardens. In the archives, there is a night visit on 1/29/08
from a GHO, then more recently a night attack by a GHO on an adult eagle in the
nest. Does anyone know more about this? I’m wondering if the owl seems to
want the nest or if it simply wants food. Or both? Is the man who took the
photos reading this by chance? These birds of prey never get boring. Have a
great day!
