Spent the afternoon birding at Swift Creek Reservoir in Chesterfield
County. Good numbers of birds on the water, and lots of water to look at.
Could not find the Common Loon from last weekends visit but replaced him
with a nice male Canvasback.

Comments: Birding the perimeter of the Resevoir. Driving and stopping
at various access points. Attempted to get good looks at most of the area
but found it challenging amongst all the neighborhoods. Impressive gull
roost could hold an odd bird or two but not on this day; best viewed from
Sunday Park in Brandermill.

Canvasback (Aythya valisineria) 1 WIth mixed flock of Ring-necks and
Ruddys off of point; seen while looking east off the Woolridge Rd causeway.

Hooded Merganser (Lophodytes cucullatus) 11
Ruddy Duck (Oxyura jamaicensis) 95
Pied-billed Grebe (Podilymbus podiceps) 23

several times by the adult. Both birds hunting in the gull flock on the
