Hi all,
I do not have anything put together in the way of Powerpoint or displays, or
the time to do it this quickly. My public speaking skills are also not the
best. Does anyone have a presentation that is ready to go and the
willingness to take the time? The class is on Rt. 1 at the Hanover Dept. of
Social Services building a few miles north of Lewistown Rd., Thursdays from
6:30 to 9:00pm (food at 5:45!). Volunteer expenses should be tax deductible
from what I have been reading. If you are part of an organization you have
the possible future benefit of partnering with your local Master Naturalist
chapter on projects that fall within their goals. To find out more about
the VMN training, google Virginia Master Naturalist. The chapter I am
studying with is the Riverine Chapter, #4 on the map. Thanks in advance for
any help you can give. I will want to do this in the future, but am not
ready to go at the moment.

Subject: Master Naturalist class
Hi Jan,
Our class next week (March 12) was supposed to be on wetlands, unfortunately
our speaker had to cancel. We are hoping we can reschedule him for a later
date. Unfortunately that leaves us with an empty class for the 12th. Emily
and I were brainstorming ideas of how we could fill that spot. We were
wondering if you would be interested or knew someone who would be interested
in talking to the class about birds. We were thinking about something like
a basic introduction to bird biology, bird calls, key features to identify
birds, common bird species in our area, and habitat types. Just something
really basic to get the class started on bird identification. I know this is
super last minute, if you weren't able to do this class and would you be
interested in presenting this topic at another class. We have also asked
John Hummer if he would be willing to do something on wetlands. Maybe you
too could spilt the time so no one had to speak for 2.5 hours.
Thanks for your consideration and let me know you thoughts.
Kathleen
