Hello Larry and All,
All the talk of Evening Grosbeaks seemed to work! Maybe not yet in
Richmond, but across the mountains here in Bridgewater- Rockingham
County in the Shenandoah Valley- we managed to have a female Evening
Grosbeak show up.
We first saw her Friday at about 1:30pm and then again this morning on
and off between 7:15 and 8:30.
Cheers,
Bill Benish & Robyn Puffenbarger

black; head slightly darker shade of Mallard drake, with less blue
irridescence and more forest green coloration; no gray or rust
coloration at all visible; bill a medium olive greenish yellow. Anyone
have an idea what kind of duck this was? I am wondering if it's a
hybrid between a Mallard and another species...speculations?
