[va-richmond-general] Dutch Gap prothonotary project

Looking like a good year for prothonotaries. Counted 211 eggs yesterday and
today in the Dutch Gap boxes, and still have several boxes to check. Banded
20 adult females thus far, and graduate student Charlie Clarkson has
color-banded about 45 males and mapped out the territories and recorded the
songs for analysis of over half of them. 14 of the 20 females caught so far
are returns from previous years.

P.S. Saw a blackpoll warbler on the Dutch Gap loop today. Can't help it,
but it always makes me a bit sad when blackpoll numbers start picking up, as
I know they signal the winding down of migration. Thank goodness for our
breeding warblers!
