After starting out the year with a Mourning Dove at my feeder, I headed down
to Henricus. The gatekeeper must have celebrated too well last night as the
gate was still locked at 8:45 AM. Headed over to Point of Rocks, where
there were good numbers of Golden Crowned Kinglets very close to the edge of
the
trail, White-throated Sparrows rehearsing, and a Brown Thrasher.
This afternoon we hiked Pocahontas State Park's Forest Exploration trail,
then headed over to Beaver Lake to scope the waterfowl. Numerous Canada
Geese,
Mallard, Gadwall, Bufflehead and a couple of Ringnecks.
Back home I picked up House Finch and Bluebird and Red Shouldered Hawk.
