[va-richmond-general] Re: Bluebirds in December

I saw some yesterday, too. I don't think they always leave, as it seems to
me I saw them last winter, as well.

They are always beautiful and a treat to spot, whatever the seasonal
landscape!

They're going to have the change the lyrics to that song. Gone is NOT the
bluebird! I saw newbirds (i.e., northern or slate-colored juncos) but I also
saw bluebirds. I saw two bluebirds in our back yard today. One of them went
to our birdhouse, the one that housed nuthatches last year (and titmice the
year before, and chickadees the year before that), poked his beak into the
hole a little ways, and then flew up into a nearby tree.

Is it common to see bluebirds now? And did these bluebirds reject our
birdhouse? I don't think it is nesting time. The hole does seems big enough
for them.
