In the middle of triaging a patient in the ED at MCV yesterday I was
summoned to the ambulance entrance to checkout the "buzzard in the
driveway," There sitting in the middle of the unloading area for ambulances
(and dump-off for drive-by shootings and stabbings ) was a Cooper's Hawk
clutching a pigeon in his talons. The hawk was totally unimpressed with all
the activity in the area and sat there all puffed out with his prey till he
could make a safe retreat. He flew off safelyafter 10 minutes with an early
Christmas dinner.
Never a dull moment...
