[va-richmond-general] Beaver Lake-Pocohantas State Park: Sunday

A frosty sunrise gave way to a beautiful morning in the woods ambling along
Beaver Lake. Lots of bird activity in the sunshine and along the shore. Good
numbers of ducks on the lake and woodpeckers were hammering throughout the
woods. I flushed a white-tail deer along the trail who threw up the big
white flag and bolted off. Sorry no one turned out-sure was better than
Christmas shopping.

Highlights:

Wood duck
Mallard
Hooded Merganser
Bufflehead
Ring-necked duck
Canada Goose
Killdeer
Belted Kingfisher
Yellow-belled Sapsucker
Pileated Woodpecker (3 at one time)
Brown Creeper
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Golden-crowned Kinglet
...and the usual woodland residents.
