[va-richmond-general] Banding Demo

Nice turn out of observers at Dutch Gap yesterday for our first of two birding demo's.  A toasty and humid day but we were never without birds.. Nets were open for 3 hours and we tallied 17 birds. 5 of those were recaps. Great to get some migrants passing through as well as our return catches. A Barred Owl  watched us set up in the morning-perched over the station and later heading deeper into the woods. Butterflies were all about as well as a nice look at a Black snake, wild-flowers and much bird song. Try to form for Dutch Gap....the bulk of our birds were Northern Cardinals and Carolina Wrens and one recap Prothonotary-and most of the activity happened as folks were leaving.

Hope to see you at the next demo-October 4. Program 2: Saturday, October 4, 8 ? 10 a.m. Register at least one week before program.
