Did all the other birds disappear when the hawk came?

My backyard has been busy for birds this morning. I've had several
chickadees, a white-breasted nuthatch (so pretty!) (I think there's
two...one had a bright blue back, and I just saw another that seemed to have
more muted colors - male and female?), a tufted titmouse and Mr. Cardinal
just flew up. As I was watching them, two mourning doves just landed and a
red shouldered hawk flew right overhead and perched in a tree right across
the pond, presumably looking for a little breakfast himself. There were a
couple more little brown birds that I don't know the names of yet dropping
in as well.
I wish I had more time to observe the hawk, but duty calls and I must get
ready for work.
