[va-richmond-general] Re: American Redstart at Brandermill

Speaking of which, I neglected to mention that I was visiting a friend who
lives in Harrisonburg over the weekend of July 19th. He took me to Reddish
Knob, the highest point in VA. While hiking, we spotted a female American
Redstart and a Pine Warbler amongst the dense understory. And then, to our
great amazement, we saw a Dark-eyed Junco! At first we convinced ourselves
it couldn't possibly be a Junco -- wrong season and all, but there it was,
unmistakably, sitting on a low-lying branch of a pin oak. My friend looked
at me and commented, "I hope it doesn't mean that bird's ready for winter
already...I'm sure not!"
