[va-richmond-general] Re: Am. bittern@wetlands(jrps)--clarifying location; also rusty blackbirds, 2 barred owls, phoebes galore, WPs numerous

As you approach from Landria Dr. there are 2 blinds at that end of the pond.
The bittern's current location is by the blind to the right closer to the
big cedar in the meadow. The actual "Bittern Pool" does not currently have
a bittern, but is a likely place for this bird to be if it stays a few days.
The main pond, the cedar and the pool at the edge of the woods sort of form
a triangle-hope this helps you look. The multiple approaches to the pool
are muddy and wet to varying degrees at the moment. At least 4 rusty
blackbirds were at the boardwalk and another 4 at the pool near the pond.
There were at least 2 pairs of pileateds seen and heard, a couple of
flickers, 2 barred owls above and beside the trail near the suspected nest
hole (hooting as I prepared to leave), and something was being mobbed in the
woods by the golf course. This morning I was treated to the sight of a
downy pecking open a praying mantis egg case near the pond, only one owl was
seen, and kingfishers could be heard rattling along Pleasants Creek. Both
trips were very short breaks from work and did not cover much territory.
Things are starting to get interesting! Have a great evening!

P.S. Yesterday I saw a red tail circling near the golf course, and this
morning above the neighborhood as I drove out.
