[va-richmond-general] 50 species at 42nd Street ...

   ...almost all of which were actually birds!! 9 of the 47 bird were warblers. 
Here are the numbers. IF there is no #, then I only heard the bird and didn't 
see it:

American Redstart (female) - 1
Black & White Warbler - 2
Black-throated Blue Warbler - 4 (all males)
Red-eyed Vireo - one seen, many heard
Great-crested Flycatcher
Yellow-rumped Warbler: 40 - 50, mostly in one flock
Chimney Swift - dozens
Mallard - 4
Indigo Bunting - 4 (males)
N.Cardinal - 12
Carolina Chickadee - 5
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - 5 seen, many more heard
Turkey Vulture - 5
Blue Jay - 3
Yellow-throated Warbler - 2 seen, a few more heard
Carolina Wren - 3
Belted Kingfisher - 2
Brown-headed Cowbird - 2 (unfortunately)
Ruby-throated Hummingbird - one seen (female), one heard
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 2, both singing
Gray Catbird - 4
Scarlet Tanager
Canada Goose - 5 adults, 3 goslings
E. Phoebe - 1
C. Grackle - 3 or more - Do Common Grackles sometimes bob their tails? I saw 
two birds that I'm guessing were Grackles bobbing their tails.
Song Sparrow - 1 seen, others heard
E. Towhee - 1 (female)
Orchard Oriole - one immature male
Am. Goldfinch - 2 seen, many heard
Common Yellowthroat - 3
Wood Thrush
White-eyed Vireo - 2
Great Blue Heron - 1
Bald Eagle - 2 immatures, possibly 4
N. Mockingbird - 1
Mo. Dove - 3
T. Titmouse - 5
Red-winged Blackbird
Am. Robin - 5
Prothonotary Warbler - 1
N. Parula - 2 seen, several more heard
N. Waterthrush - 1
Red-bellied Woodpecker
D.-c. Cormorant - dozens
Am. Crow
Am. Black Duck - 2 (male and female)

ALSO:
water snake - 1
Painted Turtle - 1
Meadow Vole  - 1 (I'm relatively sure. It was about 6 inches or so long, not 
including the tail which was probably another 4 inches. It was brown all over 
and stocky-looking)
