In case anyone was wondering, Old Town, Alexandria is not a good place to see
Kestrels - however, I stopped in for a burrito at Chipotles on the corner of
King and St. Asaph's - picked a window seat to watch the passerbys - a "non
Rock Dove" caught my eye as it flew at rooftop level across King St. and
perched on the corner of a building - too small for a Peregrine - not an
accipiter - went outside to watch - wishing it would fly - some crows wanted
it to fly too and after the first crow pass, it did.
I know, I know - but it is migration and it was raining - Kestrel Fallout? I
think Old Town has a starling or two to spare for a hungry Falco sparverius.
